Hagyard MidSouth 3-Day Event & Team Challenge

Equestrian

The Hagyard MidSouth Three-Day Event and Team Challenge is a 3-day eventing competition. This event is USEA and USEF sanctioned. The three disciplines that will make up the competition are dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.

PMHA Fall Harvest Horse Show

Welcome to the Purebred Morab Horse Association (PMHA), dedicated to educate the public about the Morab breed. The Morab comes from two breeds, one of ancient desert descent and the other the American Morgan. This show is AHA approved for Arabians and Half Arabians. There are classes for youth, adults, fun classes and Liberty. This show is also open to any breed and will feature classes for Saddlebreds. The Arabian and Half Arabian classes are approved by AHA and will count towards Region 14.

KHP History Tour

Talks/Lectures,Tour,History/Science

(2 hours in length), $15 per person. An excursion around the Kentucky Horse Park shows visitors the history of the lands that make up the park today. Visit 19th-Century family cemeteries, experience the dueling grounds, and enjoy some treats along the way! (Please dress comfortably. This tour does include some walking and is not recommended for those under 12.)

CKRH Halloween Trail Ride & Used Tack Sale

Benefit/Fundraiser

Don't miss this annual Tack Sale that transforms CKRH into a treasure chest of amazing finds and great deals! This year’s event will be Saturday, October 27 at 8 am. Community residents and businesses have donated all types of new and slightly used tack, riding clothes and shoes, horse gear and more. From the most seasoned equestrian to a new horse owner, everyone can find exactly what they need. And with proceeds going straight to CKRH, you don’t have to feel guilty about buying another horse blanket or pair of boots! This is also a wonderful opportunity to ride through the Kentucky Horse Park amid the fall colors. The Trail Ride will be between 9 am-3 pm with a costume contest at 2 pm. The trail winds through approximately 10 miles of the Kentucky Horse Park and Barton Brothers Farms. There is a $45 entry fee, and riders are required to show a current Coggins and health certificate for their horses.

Equine Cemetery Tour

(2 hours in length), $15 per person. A new walking equine cemetery tour will bring visitors to some of our very famous (and other not-as-famous) past Equine residents! Explore some of the cemeteries and graves we have around the center of the Kentucky Horse Park, see a 19th century horse-drawn hearse, and make a s’more or two! (Please dress very comfortably; this is walking tour and although there are no stairs to climb, there are slight inclines throughout the tour.)

USMGA Fall Finale – US Championship Final

The United States Mounted Games Association was formed to inspire, encourage interest, and increase participation in Mounted Games in the United States. Their mission is to increase the number of riders involved in Mounted Games, improve the quality and number of our United States competitions, and to enhance the image of equestrian games as a spectator sport. USMGA aims to provide niche in equine sports by making Mounted Games, a relatively inexpensive horse sport, available to the general public for the advancement and understanding of the equine industry.

Green through novice divisions will be on display -- a great event for green to advanced horses in training. There will also be a trade fair on the grounds as well as a costume contest on Saturday during the combined test stadium jumping and on Sunday on cross-country.

National Horse Show

Nine days of events! The National Horse Show is the culmination of the east coast summer equestrian season. With $845,000 in prize money offered, the National Horse Show has been designated a CSI4*-W event by the FEI. Competition starts with equitation championships, followed by International Open Jumpers and the top-rated hunter sections. For six consecutive years, the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame has named the National Horse Show as the Horse Show of the Year.

Southern Lights Stroll – Presented by the KHP Foundation

Benefit/Fundraiser

Fundraiser for the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation. This event features a 5k run along with mini train rides, refreshments, and prize drawings, with a food drive for God’s Pantry and local animal shelters. The first 750 adults registered receive a free souvenir t-shirt, and the first 350 kids registered receive a free holiday souvenir. This is the only night the lights can be viewed on foot.

Bluegrass Rockin’ Rodeo

Rodeo

The event is part of the International Pro Rodeo Association and serves as the IPRA National All-Region Finals. Guests will have the opportunity to cheer on 90 of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the country as they compete in bareback and saddle broncos, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, cowgirl breakaway roping and bull riding. Gates open both nights at 5:30 p.m., with the rodeo competition starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 is Family Fun Night featuring the “Kids Corral” with various activities and games, autograph and picture opportunities with the competitors, Rodeo Queen and clown, along with a calf scramble. Family entertainment will be provided by internationally renowned equine entertainer and two-time Road to the Horse Champion Guy McLean. Billboard charting artist Dustin Collins will headline on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Snowbird Winter Dressage and 4th Annual Team Challenge

Snowbird Dressage offers eventing and western dressage tests along with all USEF/USDF recognized tests. This year Snowbird Dressage is again holding their team competition where riders can show with friends & compete to win prizes at the end of the series.

Southern Lights - Presented by the KHP Foundation

For the Family

Southern Lights is a greatly anticipated holiday tradition for families all across Kentucky, in support of the programs, activities and facilities of the Kentucky Horse Park. An enhanced dreamland of dazzling lighted and often animated figures followed by a walk into the park to see a multitude of holiday happenings including seasonal entertainment, a petting zoo, pony rides, camel rides, model trains, holiday and craft vendors, refreshments, the Mini-Train Express and added exhibits or attractions will add to the holiday excitement throughout the event. The lights on the driving route are on each night through December 31, and the other holiday attractions will be open each night, with the exception of November 26 (Thanksgiving) and December 24 to 31. The American Bus Association (ABA) selected Southern Lights a Top 100 event for 2013 and 2014, which is an annual compendium of the best events for group travel in the United States and Canada. Winners are chosen from hundreds of celebrations, festivals, fairs, and commemorative events that have been nominated by ABA members. In addition, Southern Lights has been annually selected as a winner of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events and the Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s Top 10 Events.
