LexPhil PB&J Concert: Music Builds Math!

Join us for a Saturday morning of music, learning, and of course PB&J Sandwiches! A half-hour concert is followed by a half-hour for play and discovery in the Instrument Petting Zoo.

Science exhibits, art exhibits, hands-on Makers Space activities, planetarium shows, and choose additional fun-filled art workshops designed for all ages and skill levels. $4 admission, $10 to add an AM or PM workshop. EXPLORE is an odyssey to the planet Mars, seen through a lens of human history and scientific development. Three years in the making, the show skillfully illustrates ancient astronomy and the motions of celestial objects that fascinated Johannes Kepler. Explore is a beautifully visualized trip through the history of astronomy and shows the story of humanity’s fascination with the stars — from ancient stargazers and astrologers to the breakthrough discoveries of Nicolaus Copernicus and Johannes Kepler.

Storytelling Under the Stars at The Living Arts & Science Center's April Discovery Night

As long as there have been people, there have been stories. From the stories told in ancient cave paintings to the bedtime stories told to children, stories make up our history and guide our future! Enjoy an evening of exploring the art, science, and craft of stories! Discovery stories “under the stars” in our planetarium with storyteller, Ray “the Jollyman” Mendenhall, play storytelling games and participate in “how to tell a story” activities with drama students from Morehead State University! Also explore the science of sound with Dr. Kevin McGowan, professor of Phonetics at the University of Kentucky! Be inspired by one or all of our three of our art exhibits and create your own piece of collaborative story art to take home! What story will you tell?

Crafts on Tap: Beer Stein Design with Anna Fedorchuk + West Sixth Brewing

Construct your very own handmade ceramic beer stein using basic hand-building techniques and underglaze paints. After your stein is glazed and fired, take it to West Sixth Brewing, show off your stein and receive one free pretzel. Light Refreshments provided. Ages 21+ only.
