Southern Accents: Tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Cover/Tribute Band/Performer,Rock

• Sat 6/22/19 at - 9:00 PM

X -- singer Exene Cervenka, singer/bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom and drummer DJ Bonebrake -- came together in Los Angeles in early 1977, Doe and Zoom (who had once played with rockabilly giant Gene Vincent) bonding over the three-chord, no-nonsense punk of the Ramones, developing their own three-chord frenzy, topped by the odd, flat, high-end harmonies of Exene and Doe. And within two years, they had conquered the burgeoning L.A. punk scene and they had Ray Manzarek of The Doors producing their first album, "Los Angeles." And from there, it was on to national fame, then worldwide acclaim, and here they are, 40+ years later, much older, much wiser and much better-rounded (and Doe also pushing his very successful solo career, and Zoom now with his own model Gretsch).

Intern John's Revival (18 & older event)

Stand Up Comedy

Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, he became "Intern John" when he started interning at his local radio station fresh out of high school. After moving to DC and starting on The Kane Show, Intern John was introduced to the Fisher House Foundation and all they do for veterans. Not long after that, John met comedian Pete Davidson. After seeing Pete do standup, IJ thought maybe he could do standup to raise money for Fisher House Foundation. What was supposed to be one show three years ago, turned into a full-blown national tour. Three tours and 17 some shows later, Intern John's comedy has raised over $25,000 for the Fisher House Foundation. In the Revival tour, Intern John promises people will see him like they never have before. This event is 18 and older, a valid picture ID with your birthdate will be required at the door for entry.

Since they were unearthed, they've opened for P-Funk, Al Green and Cheap Trick, rocked the Super Bowl Village, become regulars on "The Bob and Tom Show," and played a whole mess o' fests the last two years.
