Voices HEaRd 2019

Arts. Education. Activism. Join The Girl Project in bringing our three favorite components together in one festival during Voices HEaRd 2019, an event raising funds and awareness for The Girl Project and our 2019 Community Partner, The Nest. This Mother's’ Day weekend, Voices HEaRd 2019 is bringing together artists of all genders and ages, non-profit community organizations, and community-minded local businesses to build intergenerational common ground bridging our divides. We will continue sharing art, voices, and identities from across central Kentucky, however, new this year - ALL of the events will be located in Lexington! Performances will include a spoken word night at the Chocolate Holler, the Voices HEaRd performance collective, an all female playwright 10-minute play festival at the Downtown Arts Center, and a singer songwriter performance event hosted by Ranada’s Bistro and Bar! This year, while The Girl Project continues our quest of uplifting voices and stories through the arts, we are expanding the mission of Voices HEaRd to celebrate relationship and community. Voices HEaRd 2019 will celebrate the uplifting maternal relationships in our lives - mothers, mentors, and teachers - with our community partners at Centered. Centered Yoga Studio will be hosting our festive daytime event with an Art Gallery and Community Art Installation by The Nest , a Yoga and Self Care workshop, Chair Massages, Food, Music, Community Storytelling, and informative tabling of Central Kentucky groups who empower marginalized voices. Be sure to save the date for you and your mother or mentor to join us!
